Knight III, Spurgin Help SUU Hold Off Idaho State For Road Win

SALT LAKE CITY – John Knight III and Jason Spurgin helped the Southern Utah men’s basketball team hold off the Idaho State Bengals for the Thunderbirds’ third win in four games.
The Bengals hosted the T-Birds on Thursday, March 3.

The victory was nearly a wire-to-wire win for the Thunderbirds, who led for 38 minutes of the contest.
The Bengals opened the night with a 3-0 lead. Southern Utah took a 4-3 lead with 18:16 left in the first half and never looked back.

Idaho State outscored Southern Utah by three points in the second half but Knight and Spurgin helped to ensure a Thunderbird victory.
The duo combined for 38 points on 14-22 shooting. Knight led the T-Birds with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

SUU finished the game shooting 50.0 percent from the field, including 36.4 percent from beyond the arc.
With the win, the Thunderbirds improved to a 19-10 record, including a 12-6 record in Big Sky Conference games this season.
Southern Utah finishes its regular season slate on the road against the Weber State Wildcats on Saturday, March 5 at 6 p.m. (MDT). The game will be streamed via ESPN+.
