BYU’s Alex Barcello Showed Off His Damian Lillard Impression On Senior Night
PROVO, Utah – Alex Barcello tapped into his Damian Lillard impression during his final home game as a BYU Cougar.
The senior guard from Chandler, Arizona, dropped a stepback three in the second half against Pepperdine to let everyone know it’s “Alex Barcello time.”
Up by six points with 11:20 remaining in the game, Barcello crossed up Waves forward Jay Yoon, stepped back and buried a three. It was giving the Marriott Center crowd something to cheer about in a game that was much closer than anyone expected for BYU against the WCC’s last-place team.
After Barcello hit the three, he stared towards the crowd that gave a classic “Dame Time” hand gesture, pointing to his wrist.
It was a highlight-worthy moment for a BYU player who has established himself as one of the all-time greats in program history. Before the game on Saturday, Barcello was honored for Senior Night, earning the loudest cheers and applause from the near-capacity crowd at the Marriott Center.
The cheers were just as loud for the Lillard impression. that was the jolt of energy BYU needed to pull away from the Waves.
Barcello finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and one steal in his final home game in front of BYU fans. BYU defeated Pepperdine 75-59 to improve to 21-9 overall on the season.
