Thunderbirds Rally From 16 Down To Knockoff Grizzlies

SALT LAKE CITY – John Knight III and Jason Spurgin keyed a second half rally as the Thunderbirds beat the Grizzlies 82-74.
Southern Utah (11-5, 17-9) hosted the Montana Grizzlies (10-6, 17-10) at the America First Event Center in Cedar City, UT on Thursday, February 24.
The Grizzlies jumped out to a fast double-digit lead, then closed the half by hitting 6-7 shots on their way to taking a 44-31 lead into the break.

Spurring a second half comeback, Knight III stayed hot after a ten point first half. Knight hit his first seven shots, including four dunks, whittling a 16 point Montana lead down to 53-51 with 12:20 left.
Southern Utah opened the second half on a 23-9 run.

The Thunderbird had stolen every ounce of momentum from the Grizzlies.
Spurgin led the way as a playmaker in every facet. His 15 & 14 double-double went along with a team leading four assists.
Josh Bannan led the Grizzlies with 23 points.
The Thunderbirds return to the hardwood on Tuesday, March 1 as the face Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. (MDT).
