Real Monarchs Announce Inaugural 2022 MLS Next Pro Season Schedule

SALT LAKE CITY – Real Monarchs has announced its schedule ahead of the inaugural season of the new MLS Next Pro competition.

The schedule consists of 24 games, 12 home games, and 12 away games. The season will start on the road against Tacoma Defiance on March 27 before returning home for the first time to prepare for a fixture against Vancouver Whitecaps II on April 2nd.

All MLS Next Pro matches will be available to stream for free via www.mlsnextpro.com.

This season, the league is divided into two conferences; the west and the east. Each conference is also split into divisions with the Monarchs falling into the Pacific Division in the Western Conference alongside San Jose Earthquakes II, Tacoma Defiance, Portland Timbers II, and Vancouver Whitecaps II.

The Monarchs will play their Division rivals two to three times depending on the team and will play every other club in the Western Conference at least twice.

At the end of the season, a total of eight teams (four from each conference) will qualify for the MLS Next Pro Playoffs, the top teams from each division, and the two teams with the next most points in each conference. The regular season will conclude with Decision Day on September 18th.

The Monarchs conclude a seven-year spell in the USL Championship, during which the team won the 2019 USL Championship Cup, the 2017 USL Regular Season Shield and the Western Conference Title in both 2017 and 2019.
