SALT LAKE CITY – Select members of the Utah football program went to the State Capitol on Wednesday morning to be honored for their historic season.
The Utah legislature welcomed the Utes football team into the Capitol rotunda and lawmakers of the Beehive State gave remarks about their historic season. University president Taylor Randall, athletics director Mark Harlan, head coach Kyle Whittingham, quarterback Cam Rising, tight end Dalton Kincaid, offensive lineman Braeden Daniels, cornerback Clark Phillips III, linebacker Karene Reid, defensive lineman Devin Kaufusi and place kicker Jadon Redding represented the program.
The team was brought out to the rotunda in front of the legislature as lawmakers made remarks about Utah winning their first Pac-12 title, going to their first Rose Bowl and fighting adversity with the tragic losses of Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe.

Utah Lawmakers Share Stories Of Historic Football Season
It was an exciting time for Utah lawmakers when the football team came in to be honored for their season. Some of the members of the Utah legislature are season ticket holders and lifelong fans of the Utes.
One legislature gave a brief story of a friend of his that had their son going through cancer that Kyle Whittingham took the time to sign a football and a helmet for this child. Others talked about their experience going to Las Vegas for the Pac-12 Championship.
It’s a special time for the Utah football program. They released the first part of their docu-series on Tuesday afternoon that honors Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. Later that night, the Salt Lake City Council and mayor Erin Mendenhall honored the team for their season by having members of the team join them. The Pac-12 Championship trophy was also with the team.
We’re doing something a little different @slcCouncil tonight. Happy to be joined by my team @UUtah, my friend @SLCoMayor and others to jointly commemorate 2/22 as “Give 22% More for Utah Football Day” in Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County. 🙌🌹 pic.twitter.com/SkayTXKZUL
