RSL Drops Final Preseason Match To Portland Timbers

SALT LAKE CITY – RSL concluded their final preseason match with a 3-0 loss to the Portland Timbers at Providence Park on Saturday night.
Now, RSL will look ahead to their season opener next week after losing to Portland in preseason action.
Real Salt Lake rolled out a veteran group in the starting XI with David Ochoa in goal, Marcelo Silva, Erik Holt and Justen Glad along the back. Maikel Chang, Everton Luiz and Pablo Ruiz was in the midfield. Up top was Tate Schmitt, Bobby Wood, Jonathan Menendez and Justin Meram.

In the 64th minute, Sergio Cordova, Christopher Garcia and newly-signed Johan Kappelhof came on and replaced Menendez, Meram and Holt.
The match didn’t see any goals in the first half and it took nearly 30 minutes into the second half before Portland found the back of the net on a goal from Cristhian Paredes in the 72nd minute.
The Timbers were awarded a penalty kick by Jaroslaw Niezgoda in the 74th minute to give the home side a 2-0 lead. Portland put the finishing touches on the match with a goal by Bill Tuiloma in the 90th minute to give the Timbers a 3-0 advantage.
RSL will now look ahead to their season opener on the road against Houston Dynamo FC on Sunday, February 27 at 5 p.m. MT on KSLSports.com, KSL Sports app and the KSL TV app.
