PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s basketball continues to pile up the victories. The 20th ranked team in the land earned their 22nd win of the season by taking down LMU 77-54 in a Thursday matinee.
BYU had a younger, louder crowd in attendance as it was another “Kids Day” that featured more than 1,000 elementary students in the Provo area.

Star guard Shaylee Gonzales gave the young fans a show pouring in a game-high 19 points and pulling down eight rebounds to go along with three assists and one steal.
LMU made it much tough on BYU in stretches of this game compared to the 40-point victory BYU dished out to LMU in LA last month.
LMU gave BYU a test
After the first quarter, BYU only led by three. BYU then got the lead up to 15 before the Lions stormed back again, cutting the deficit to seven with 4:13 remaining in the third quarter. LMU’s Jasmine Jones missed a three that could have dropped BYU’s lead to four. Gonzales then sprung into action popping off a quick 4-0 run of her own to put BYU’s advantage back to double-digits.
From there, BYU cruised in the fourth quarter bringing in their reserves to put the final touches on BYU’s 29th consecutive win at the Marriott Center.

Tegan Graham and Lauren Gustin struggled shooting the ball in matinee tilt, going a combined 5-of-19 from the field. However, Gustin still made her presence felt on the glass, grabbing 12 rebounds.
