SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake has unveiled their 2022 primary kit ahead of the upcoming MLS season.
The throwback kit was inspired by former Real Salt Lake Vice President of Marketing and Game Presentation Bridget Farfel who spent eight years with the Claret and Cobalt.
The design is a modern twist on a classic, the 2009 MLS Championship team wore very similar kits throughout their championship campaign.

“Her [Bridget Farfel] main vision was to return to a more classic design and something that would be a standout primary jersey that not only harkens the positive memories of the old days but is a modern twist on the new technology and the new way that Adidas is presenting these jerseys,” current Vice President of Marketing and Game Presentation Tyler Gibbons told KSL Sports.
Some of the most eye-catching features on the kit include the numbers “05” in the bottom right-hand corner reminding the world of the year that Real Salt Lake was founded. The trim and collar is a sharp navy with a claret and yellow stripe, creating a very clean and iconic look. Leo the lion is featured on the back of the neck, while the Real Salt Lake crest with the Championship star is positioned in its usual location over the heart.
“I think the end result is something that fans will not only feel nostalgic about but they will harken it back to when that Believe chant started,” Gibbons added.
Real Salt Lake will next play Portland Timbers on Saturday, February 19 with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. The contest will be available to stream for free via the KSL Sports app or on KSL Sports dot com.
Shortly after returning home from Portland, Real Salt Lake will open their MLS season on the road against Houston on February 27 before hosting Albert Rusnák and the Seattle Sounders in the home opener on March 5.
