SUU’s Second Half Comeback Falls Shorts Against Northern Colorado

SALT LAKE CITY – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team suffered a close loss after a second half comeback fell short against the Northern Colorado Bears.
The Bears hosted the Trailblazers on Monday, February 14.
SUU fell to UNC, 100-95.

It was a tale of two halves for the T-Birds. During the opening 20 minutes of action, the Thunderbirds were outscored by nine points and went into the locker room with a 44-35 deficit to overcome.
SUU’s offense came alive during the second half as the T-Birds put up 60 points over the closing 20 minutes. Southern Utah outscored Northern Colorado in the half but was unable to slow down the Bears offense at the same time.

Southern Utah was unable to hold on to a win and let Northern Colorado take control at the end of the contest.

The T-Birds finished the night shooting 58.6 percent overall and 47.4 percent from three. However, SUU allowed UNC to shoot 64.9 percent, including 50.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Jason Spurgin led SUU with 22 points on 8-9 field goals.

With the loss, the Thunderbirds fell to a 16-8 record, including 10-4 in Big Sky Conference action. Southern Utah’s next game is at home against Montana State on Saturday, February 19 at 2 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN+.
