Sam Houston State Blows Out Dixie State In WAC Action

SALT LAKE CITY – The Sam Houston State Bearkats used a dominant second half to improve to 9-2 in WAC play this year in a win over Dixie State 77-53.
Sam Houston State hosted the Trailblazers at Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville, Texas on Thursday, February 3.
Dixie State (4-4, 11-10) had a chance to gain some ground in the Western Athletic Conference against Sam Houston State (8-2, 13-10)

Sam Houston enters the game on the heals of a loss to Seattle University while the Trailblazers are aiming for their fourth straight conference victory.
Dixie State had their work cut out for them after digging themselves a ten point deficit, 38-28 at the half.
Savion Flagg led the Bearkats offensively, netting 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Flagg was an efficient 10-16 from the field and went 3-6 from the three-point line.
He was joined by Demarkus Lampley in double-figure scoring with 16 points.
Dixie State never gave themselves a chance on the offensive end as they combined to shoot 28.8 percent from the field and an abysmal 19.2 percent from the three point line.
A series of second half runs allowed Sam Houston State to build a 26 point lead, on their way to a 24 win.

Hunter Schofield led two Trailblazers to score in double figures, dropping 15 points while securing seven rebounds. Dancell Leter also contributed 12 points.
Dixie State travels to Nacogdoches, Texas next where they will fave Stephen F. Austin. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. (MDT) on Saturday, February 5.
