SALT LAKE CITY – Dusan Mahorcic is no longer a part of the Utah Utes basketball program after playing in 13 games during the 2021-22 season.

This comes over two weeks after Utah Utes head basketball coach Craig Smith suspended Dusan Mahorcic indefinitely on January 29 before their road contest against Washington.

Utah basketball said in a press release that was sent to KSL Sports that Mahorcic is no longer a part of the team.

Dusan Mahorcic’s Short Stint With Utah Utes Basketball

Mahorcic joined the Utes as a transfer from Illinois State, where he spent two seasons. Before that, he was playing basketball in Junior College. When Mahorcic was making his decision, he narrowed his final list down to Utah, Texas and Clemson.

Mahorcic started his career at Lewis where he played 18 games with one start. He averaged 4.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Mahorcic then decided to go play for Moberly Area where he posted averages of 9.9 points and 6 rebounds per contest, while shooting 59 percent from the field.

Mahorcic missed some time due to a knee injury he suffered against BYU on November 27. The rotation tightened up with Mahorcic on suspension. Mahorcic played in 13 games this season and started the last two contests before his suspension. He averaged 5.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.
