Report: Packers Expected To Interview Former Utah QB For OC Job

SALT LAKE CITY – The Green Bay Packers are expected to interview former Utah quarterback Brian Johnson for the team’s offensive coordinator vacancy, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur needs a new OC after Nathaniel Hackett was hired as head coach of the Denver Broncos.
Johnson served as the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterbacks coach in 2021.

Johnson helped coach Philadelphia to a 9-8 record and a playoff berth.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, a second-year player, threw for 3,144 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions under Johnson’s tutelage. Hurts added 784 yards and 10 touchdowns with his legs.
The Packers posted a 13-4 record in the regular season and clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC before getting eliminated by the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.
About Brian Johnson
Before his time as a coach, Johnson starred as quarterback of the Utah Utes. He played for Utah from 2004-08.
During his time as a Ute, Johnson threw for 7,853 yards, 57 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions with a 66.2 percent complete rate. Utah went undefeated and beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl in Johnson’s final collegiate season.

Johnson returned to Utah as Kyle Whittingham’s quarterback coach in 2010. In 2012, Johnson was promoted to offensive coordinator, a position he served in until 2013.
After his time with the University of Utah, Johnson coached at Mississippi State, Houston, and Florida. The former Utah standout became Philadelphia’s QB coach when Nick Sirianni was hired as head coach of the Eagles in 2021. It was Johnson’s first role in the NFL.
