Sisoho Jawara, McEwen Lead Weber State To In-State Win Over SUU
SALT LAKE CITY – Seikou Sisoho Jawara and Koby McEwen led the Weber State men’s basketball team to an in-state rivalry win over the Southern Utah Thunderbirds.
The T-Birds hosted the Wildcats on Monday, January 24.
Weber State beat SUU, 92-84.
The Wildcats used a big first half to hold off the Thunderbirds over the final 20 minutes of action.
During the first half, Weber State outscored Southern Utah by nine points and took a 44-35 lead into the locker room at halftime.
SUU responded with a 49-point second half but the early deficit was too much for the Thunderbirds to overcome.
Weber State finished the game shooting 51.8 percent from the field, including 43.3 percent from three.
Sisoho Jawara and McEwen combined for 46 of Weber State’s 92 points. Sisoho Jawara led the Wildcats with a game-high 25 points on 8-9 field goals. McEwen added 21 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Southern Utah shot 47.2 percent overall and 35.0 percent from distance. Harrison Butler led the T-Birds with 18 points off the bench.
With the result, the Wildcats improved their record to 14-5 overall and 7-1 in Big Sky Conference games. Southern Utah dropped to an 11-6 record, including 5-2 in the Big Sky.
