Southern Utah Posts Big Second Half To Put Away Idaho State

SALT LAKE CITY – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team scored 50 points over the final 20 minutes of game time to beat the Idaho State Bengals.
The Thunderbirds hosted the Bengals on Saturday, January 22.

After the opening half of basketball, the T-Birds took a two-point lead into the locker room following a 36-point first half.
Following the break, Southern Utah’s offense caught fire for 50 points and the Thunderbirds outscored the Bengals by 10 points over the closing 20 minutes of the contest.
The Thunderbirds ended up shooting 51.7 percent overall and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. Four SUU starters reached double figures in scoring. Jason Spurgin and Tevian Jones led the T-Birds with 17 points apiece.

With the win, the T-Birds picked up their second straight victory and improved their record to 11-5 this season, including 5-1 in Big Sky Conference games.
