SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah State men’s basketball team suffered a close to the Wyoming Cowboys after allowing the game-winning shot in the final seconds.

The Aggies hosted the Cowboys on Saturday, January 15.

USU lost to Wyoming, 71-69.

After Aggies forward Justin Bean tied the game on a jump shot with 26 seconds left in the second half, Wyoming’s Graham Ike hit a go-ahead, game-winning layup to put the Cowboys on top by two points.

It was a back-and-forth contest for 40 minutes in Logan.

Neither team led by more than 10 points through the game.

Following the first 20 minutes of action, the Aggies and Cowboys were knotted up at 31 points apiece. In the second half, Ike’s shot was the deciding factor in a 40-38 game over the final 20 minutes of game time.

Utah State finished the game shooting 40.6 percent overall and 23.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Rylan Jones and Bean led the Aggies with 19 points each.

With the loss, USU fell to a record of 10-7, including 1-3 in Mountain West Conference games.

Utah State’s next game is on the road against Fresno State on Tuesday, January 18 at 9 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and The Zone Sports Network.
