SALT LAKE CITY – The Dixie State Trailblazers couldn’t overcome their slow start as they fell to Seattle U 79-68 on Saturday afternoon in the Pacific Northwest.

Dixie State struggled in the first half and was outscored by Seattle U 44-26. The Trailblazers bounced back in the second half and outscored the Redhawks 42-35 but it wasn’t enough.

Hunter Schofield led DSU with 25 points and eight rebounds. Cameron Gooden chipped in 10 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals. They were the only Dixie State players that scored in double figures.

The Trailblazers shot 45% from the field, 21% from the three-point line and 66% from the free throw line. They committed 19 turnovers.

All five starters for Seattle U scored in double figures and only had six bench points. Cameron Tyson scored 25 points to lead the way. Emeka Udenyi posted 14 points, while Darrion Trammell recorded 13 points and eight assists.

The Redhawks shot 41% from the floor, 30% from beyond the arc and missed just one of their 15 free throw attempts.

Dixie State dropped their record to 8-10 overall and 1-4 in WAC play. They will return home to face Lamar on Thursday, January 20 at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
