Rudy Gay, Elijah Hughes Join Jazz Players In Health, Safety Protocols

SALT LAKE CITY – Rudy Gay and Elijah Hughes joined the list of Utah Jazz players in the NBA’s Health & Safety protocols amid the surge of COVID-19 cases in the league.
Gay and Hughes were added to the protocols on Sunday, January 9.
The two forwards join Rudy Gobert and Joe Ingles as current Jazz players listed as “OUT’ because of the health and safety rules.

Gay last played on January 8 against the Indiana Pacers. This season, Gay is averaging 9.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.
Hughes last played on January 7 against the Toronto Raptors. He missed Utah’s game against the Pacers on January 8 due to illness. Hughes has recorded 3.0 points. 0.9 rebounds, and 0.4 assists in 10 games this season.
The Jazz are near the end of a five-game road trip that has been plagued by COVID-19 and injuries. Utah has gone 2-2 through the first four games of the trip.
Utah’s next game is on the road against the Detroit Pistons on Monday, January 10 at 5 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet, NBA League Pass, and The Zone Sports Network.
