Aimaq’s Double-Double Leads Wolverines To First Conference Win

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Valley Wolverines built a double-digit advantage before allowing a basket in a 22 point wire-to-wire victory over Tarleton State.
The Wolverines hosted the Tarleton State Texans on Saturday, January 1 at the UCCU Center in Orem,UT.

Tim Fuller opened the game with four quick points for UVU before Conor Harding took over for the remainder of the first half. Harding finished the half shooting 3-4 from the field and added 5-6 free throws for 12 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. He also accounted for all three UVU three-pointers at the half.
10 turnovers allowed the Texans to keep it within striking distance at halftime, 34-23.

Utah Valley opened up a 20-point advantage in the opening minutes of the second half and wouldn’t look back on their way to a 77-55 win
Fardaws Aimaq led UVU with 21 points and 16 rebounds, his NCAA leading 12th double-double of the season. Aimaq is averaging 19.5 points and 13.2 rebounds per game this year.
Harding finished with 17 points and Tim Fuller had a career high 13 points for the Wolverines.
Shamir Bogues led three Texan players in double figure scoring with 17 points.
Utah Valley is back in action against in-state opponent Dixie State on Saturday, January 8. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. (MDT) and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and 960 AM. The two programs are 1-1 all-time against each other.
