Southern Utah Takes Down Sacramento State After Big Second Half

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah Thunderbirds restarted Big Sky Conference play with a 64-51 win over Sacramento State on Thursday night.
After outscoring Sacramento State 25-23 in the first half, Southern Utah got a big second half by scoring 41 points and holding the Hornets to 26 points.
Tevian Jones scored 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Southern Utah to victory. Maizen Fausett added 14 points and nine rebounds.

SUU shot just 36% from the field, 23% from the three-point line and 66% from the foul line.
Bryce Fowler dropped 12 points to lead Sacramento State. Cameron Wilbon and Zach Chappell added 10 points apiece.
The Hornets shot 36% from the floor and 23% from beyond the arc.
Southern Utah improved their record to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in Big Sky play. They will return home on Saturday, January 1 to face Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
