SALT LAKE CITY – Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson announced that he will skip the Rose Bowl Game between the Buckeyes and Utah Utes.

The No. 6 Buckeyes and No. 11 Utes are slated to play in the Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, California on New Year’s Day.

On Monday, December 27, Wilson announced that he would skip the bowl game in preparation for the 2022 NFL Draft.

“This journey has been a lifetime in the making and after careful consideration. today, I am excited to start the next chapter by declaring for the NFL Draft,” Wilson tweeted.

Wilson was Ohio State’s second-leading receiver this season behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

In 2021, the junior wideout recorded 70 catches for 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns.

In addition to Wilson, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said that Haskell Garrett, Chris Olave, and Nicholas Petit-Frere won’t play in the Rose Bowl.

The group of players helped the Buckeyes finish the regular season with a 10-2 record.

The Utes and Buckeyes will play in the Rose Bowl Game on Saturday, January 1 at 3 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN.
