Pac-12 Football’s History Playing In Rose Bowl Since 2012

SALT LAKE CITY – One of the perks of being a member of the Pac-12 Conference is an opportunity to play in one of the most prestigious bowl games in all of college football.
With the exception College Football Playoff implications, the Pac-12 champion will play in the Rose Bowl, or at least a member of the conference.
Since the conference expanded to 12 teams in 2011, Utah is the fifth Pac-12 team to play in the Rose Bowl.

Pac-12 Rose Bowl History Since Expansion
Since January 1, 2012, the Pac-12 has played in every Rose Bowl with the exception of 2018 and 2021 due to the game being one of the College Football Playoff Semifinal games.
During that stretch, the Pac-12 is 6-2 in Rose Bowl games. Oregon knocked off Wisconsin, 45-38 in 2012, followed by Stanford beating the Badgers in 2013 with a 20-14 victory. In the 2014 Rose Bowl, Stanford fell to Michigan State, 24-20 in the Pac-12’s first loss in the Grand Daddy of them all since expansion.
Oregon played in the Rose Bowl in 2015, which was the inaugural College Football Playoff, beating Florida State 59-20. Stanford knocked off Iowa in 45-16 in 2016 and USC defeated Penn State 52-49 in 2017.

Oklahoma and Georgia played in the 2018 Rose Bowl as a part of the CFP Semifinal. Washington lost to Ohio State in 2019, which was Urban Meyer’s last game as a college head coach.
In 2020, Oregon beat Wisconsin 28-27. The 2021 Rose Bowl was a CFP Semifinal and was moved to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2000, the Pac-12 is 11-7 in the Rose Bowl and 5-5 from 2000-10.
Utah and No. 6 Ohio State will battle in the Rose Bowl on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 3 p.m. MT on ESPN.
