LOGAN, Utah – After just a single year in Logan, Utah State University head football coach Blake Anderson is already letting the ink dry on a brand new contract extension.
When Anderson, who initially signed a five-year deal last December to replace former Aggie Gary Andersen, first got to Logan, the expectations weren’t particularly high for anyone outside of the locker room. Upheaval on the coaching staff and an incredible amount of turmoil engulfed the program.

“I am excited for our fans to witness first-hand his high-octane offense and championship brand of football,” Utah State athletic director John Hartwell said when announcing Anderson’s hiring in December, 2020.
How right he was. Anderson took over a 1-5 team in 2020 and led them to an 11-3 finish in 2021, including an 8-0 on the road, a school record for road victories in a single season.

“Under head coach Blake Anderson, this year’s football team captured the hearts of all of Aggie nation and we are fortunate to have him at the helm of our program,” said USU President Noelle E. Cockett.
Anderson’s contract now runs through the 2027 season. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
