Southern Utah Exacts Revenge, Blows Out Dixie State

SALT LAKE CITY – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team avenged an early-season loss by blowing out the Dixie State Trailblazers.
The T-Birds hosted the Blazers on Wednesday, December 22.
The Trailblazers took down the Thunderbirds in an 83-76 contest in each team’s second game of the season. On Wednesday night, Southern Utah evened the season series at one game apiece.

The T-Birds began the game on a 10-0 run and didn’t look back.
Southern Utah blasted Dixie State during the first 20 minutes of game time and took a 50-17 lead into the locker room at the halftime break.
The Thunderbirds used the big lead to coast in the second half.
Dixie State outscored SUU by seven points over the final half but the early deficit was too much for the Blazers to bounce back from.
Southern Utah shot a blazing 55.9 percent overall and 39.3 percent from beyond the arc. Tevian Jones led the Thunderbirds with 18 points.

The Blazers finished the game shooting 37.3 percent from the field, including 16.7 percent from downtown. Dancell Leter led Dixie State with 13 points.
With the result, the Thunderbirds improved their record to 8-4 this season and the Trailblazers fell to 7-6.
