Former BYU Star Ashley Hatch Signs Extension With NWSL’s Spirit

SALT LAKE CITY – The Washington Spirit announced that former BYU Cougars forward Ashley Hatch signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the NWSL club.
Washington announced Hatch’s new deal on Wednesday, December 22.
Hatch’s new contract will keep her with the Spirit through 2023. Washington has a club option in Hatch’s deal for the 2024 season.

“After the career year that Ashley had, it was only right to extend her contract,” Washington President Ben Olsen said. “Her work rate and ability to finish off plays was critical in our run to the cup and we are pleased she’s sticking around for a while.”
“We’re very excited to have Ashley as a part of the Spirit family,” Spirit interim head coach Kris Ward said in a statement. “She is an admirable player on and off the field, and is truly only at the beginning of what will continue to be a stellar career. We look forward to seeing her continued development as a part of this squad. Here’s to many more Golden Boot trophies in the future.”

Washington first acquired Hatch in January 2018 trade.
During his time with the Spirit, Hatch has scored 28 goals in 86 appearances. She’s scored 35 goals during her NWSL career. Hatch won the NWSL’s 2021 Golden Boot award as the league’s top goal scorer for the 2021 season.
Before her professional career, Hatch played at BYU from 2013-16. Hatch scored 47 goals during 75 matches with the Cougars.
Hatch is currently a member of the United States Women’s National Team.
