Utah State Runs Past Portland State For Bounce Back Win

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah State men’s basketball bounced back from a loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes by defeating the Portland State Vikings at home.
The Aggies hosted the Vikings on Tuesday, December 21.

The Aggies used a big first half to coast over the final 20 minutes of action to earn their ninth victory of the season.
Utah State opened the game by allowing Portland State to start on an 8-0 run during the first three minutes of action. A 12-3 run gave the Aggies their first lead of the game at the 13:51 mark.
Following a few minutes of back-and-forth basketball, USU began to pull away and built a 42-39 lead by halftime.

In the second half, the Aggies continued to outscore the Vikings despite a push by Portland State.
Utah State outscored Portland State by six points over the final 20 minutes and captured a double-digit win.
The Aggies finished the game shooting 58.5 percent overall and 57.1 percent from beyond the arc. Justin Bean led USU with a massive double of 29 points and 12 rebounds.

Utah State limited Portland State to 33.9 percent shooting, including 29.6 percent from three.
With the win, the Aggies improved their record to 9-4 this season.
Utah State’s next game is on the road against the Air Force Falcons on Tuesday, December 28.
