Utah State Struggles In Second Half Against Hawkeyes In Iowa

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah State Aggies came up short in their final non-conference road trip of the season in a 94-75 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The Aggies visited The Pentagon in Iowa City, facing the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, December 18.

The Hawkeyes finished the first half with an 8-0 run to take a 51-43 lead at halftime.
Three Aggie turnovers early in the second half allowed Iowa to increase their lead to 16 points before a Justin Bean driving layup gave the Aggies their first second half field goal at 17:37.
Iowa continued to pull away after Bean, the Aggies leading scorer this year with 19.4 points per game, picked up his fourth foul with 14:57 remaining. When Bean checked back in five minutes later, Utah State trailed 75-58.

Brandon Horvath led the Aggies with 18 points and six rebounds. Bean was the only other Aggie to score in double figures, finishing with 17.
The Aggies have one more non-conference game this regular season as they return to the friendly confines of The Spectrum to face the Portland State Vikings on Tuesday, December 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. (MDT).
