Alabama QB Bryce Young Wins 2021 Heisman Trophy

SALT LAKE CITY – Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young won the Heisman Trophy for his play during the 2021 college football season.
The Heisman Trophy Trust awarded Young in New York City on Saturday, December 11. The Heisman Trophy is given annually to the top player in college football.
Young is the fourth Alabama player to win the Heisman Trophy. Former Crimson Tide players Mark Ingram Jr. (2009), Derrick Henry (2015), and DeVonta Smith (2020) also won the award during Nick Saban’s coaching tenure with Alabama.

Heisman Trophy Finalists
Young was one of four finalists for the award. The finalists for the Heisman Trophy were:

- Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh)

Bryce Young in 2021
Young is a sophomore from Pasadena, California. After playing in a few games in 2020, Young became Alabama’s starting quarterback this season.

In 2021, Young threw for 4,322 yards, 43 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He added 71 carries for 31 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Young had his “Heisman Moment” in the SEC Championship game when he threw for 421 yards and scored four total touchdowns in Alabama’s win over then No. 1 and previous undefeated Georgia.

The Crimson Tide earned the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff and will play No. 4 Cincinnati during the semifinals on December 31.
