PROVO, Utah – BYU football has the head coach to lead them into the Big 12 Conference. It’s Kalani Sitake.
After being targeted during the wild and crazy coaching carousel by various jobs, BYU inked Sitake to an “unprecedented” contract extension. The extension is unprecedented by BYU standards, and it shows that BYU is willing more than ever before to compete at the highest levels of college football.
When the news broke on Friday, social media naturally had its share of reactions. Here are some notable ones from the big day for the BYU football program.

Good for Kalani Sitake, who has gone 21-3 the past two years. Good on BYU to lock him up. https://t.co/1wXphKVlUj

#BYU announces coach Kalani Sitake has agreed to a “new, unprecedented contract” with the school through 2027. Sitake had been in the mix for #Oregon‘s coaching vacancy. Sitake is 48-28 at BYU.

Kalani Sitake who had been a candidate for the Oregon coaching vacancy, has agreed to a new, “unprecedented contract,” with BYU that runs thru the 2027 season. Only Nick Saban & Luke Fickell have more wins over the past two seasons than Sitake who is 21-3 the past two seasons

Congrats to a great coach & human!
I did LOL a little when I first heard the nugget that in Sitake's interview w/ Oregon he seemed hesitant to leave BYU…
I imagined this (but w/o the cursing): I'M NOT LEAVIN https://t.co/WD3Bb5CJuQ pic.twitter.com/MJEVdYpdzg

Tom Holmoe hits the point the matters the most: We have made the commitment to Kalani and his staff and the program

I'm very aware that listeners & Twitter followers have grown tired of my constant conversation of BYU's need to extend Kalani Sitake so soon after an extension, but this is how major college football operates. It's great to see BYU operating like a major college football program.
