Pro Football Focus placed Barrington on their Third Team All-American squad. The Spokane, Washington native is a stalwart in run blocking for BYU. As BYU’s starting left guard, Barrington has been a key contributor in helping running back Tyler Allgeier rush for 1,414 yards this season.
He’s also continued to evolve as a pass blocker since he arrived on campus. In BYU’s last five regular season games, Barrington received pass-blocking grades of 84 or higher (100-point scale) in each of those games that resulted in BYU victories.
PFF’s right guards rated in front of Barrington include Louisiana’s O’Cyrus Torrence and Boston College’s Christian Mahogany.
Along with the third team recognition from PFF, Barrington was also named a second-team All-American by The Action Network, which features college football insider Brett McMurphy.
This is the second consecutive year that a BYU offensive lineman has earned All-American recognitions. Last year, Brady Christensen emerged as BYU’s first Consensus All-American since Luke Staley in 2001.
Since 2019, Barrington has started in 25 games during his BYU football career. His younger brother, Campbell, was a starter at right tackle in six games this season to relieve an injured Harris LaChance.
Barrington and the 13th ranked BYU football team will take on the UAB Blazers in the 2021 Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana.
