BYU Women’s Volleyball’s Season Ends With Third Round Loss To Purdue

SALT LAKE CITY – The BYU women’s volleyball team saw its season come to an end with a five-set loss to the Purdue Boilermakers in the NCAA Tournament.
The No. 11 Cougars played the No. 6 Boilermakers in the third round of the NCAA tourney on Thursday, December 9.

After falling in the first set, BYU bounced back to win the next two sets to take a 2-1 match lead.
Purdue won the fourth set to tie the match at two sets apiece.
The teams went to a fifth and final set to decide the match.
The Cougars owned a 14-10 lead but were unable to close out the match. BYU faced five match points before falling to Purdue, 18-16 in the deciding set.

With the loss, the Cougars were eliminated from the tournament and their season came to an end.
BYU finished the 2021 season with a 30-2 overall record, including 18-0 in the West Coast Conference.
The Cougars earned a conference title, a No. 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and recorded wins over Boise State and rival Utah in the postseason.
