Utah Football To Face Ohio State In Rose Bowl

SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 11 University of Utah football team will face the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2022 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
The matchup between Utah and Ohio State was announced on Sunday morning. The Buckeyes earned a berth in the Rose Bowl after Michigan knocked off Iowa in the Big Ten Championship game on Saturday night.
It’s the first time in school history that Utah will appear in the Rose Bowl, following a 38-10 win over Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship game on Friday night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The last time that Ohio State reached the Rose Bowl was in the 2018 season and beat Washington, 28-23. This will be their 16th appearance in the Rose Bowl.
Utah and Ohio State have played just once before the upcoming matchup. They played at Ohio State with the Buckeyes picking up a 64-6 win over the Utes in 1986.

The Buckeyes finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and 8-1 in Big Ten play. They beat Minnesota, Tulsa, Akron, Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Penn State, Nebraska, Purdue and Michigan State. Their losses came against Oregon in Week 2 and the regular season finale versus Michigan, who is now in the College Football Playoff.
Kickoff for the 108th Rose Bowl Game is set for Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 2 p.m. MT on ESPN.
