Bonner Breaks Record, USU Strikes First In Mountain West Title Game

CARSON, Calif. – Logan Bonner and the Utah State football team found the scoreboard first in the Mountain West Conference Championship game against the San Diego State Aztecs.
The No. 19 Aztecs hosted the Aggies at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, December 4.
With 9:06 remaining in the first half, Bonner connected with Derek Wright for a five-yard touchdown to give the Aggies their first points of the game.

The Bonner-Wright connection gave Utah State a 7-0 lead after a scoreless first quarter.
The score capped a 10-play, 53-yard drive that lasted 4:29.
Bonner set a new single-season touchdown passing record at Utah State with the scoring throw. It was his 33rd touchdown pass of the season. The previous mark was held by current Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

After the touchdown pass, Bonner was 10/17 passing for 90 yards and a touchdown. Bonner entered the game having thrown for 3,242 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions this season.
Wright had two receptions for seven yards and a touchdown. He came to Carson with 39 catches for 699 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2021.
