SALT LAKE CITY – Tony Finau has compiled a tremendous opening two rounds at the Hero World Challenge to sit one shot behind leader Bryson DeChambeau with two rounds to play.
Finau is tied with Collin Morikawa and Brooks Koepka in a tie for second.
Finau is just one of two players in the field this week in the Bahamas. The Hero World Challenge is a unique PGA Tour event where 20 of the top players in the world compete with the 20th placed player still departing with $100K.
Finau’s opening round consisted of four birdies, two bogeys and an eagle before posting a four-under-par, 68. Finau improved throughout round two when he compiled a scorecard that involved seven birdies and just the lone bogey for a six-under-par round of 66.

As mentioned above, Finau sits just one shot behind DeChambeau who leads the field at 11-under-par entering the weekend. Henrik Stenson and Harris English are the only two players in the field who find themselves above par, all 18 other players are below par and within nine shots of Finau.
This week, due to the birth of his firstborn child, Finau’s regular caddie Mark Urbanek is not on the bag and is instead by his wife’s side. Utah Jazz owner and Qualtrics founder/CEO Ryan Smith was called into work and has been lugging around Finau’s sticks so far.
Tee times and pairings for the third round are yet to be announced.
