Southern Utah Opens Conference Play With Win Over EWU

SALT LAKE CITY – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team opened its slated of Big Sky Conference games with a win over the Eastern Washington Eagles.
The Eagles hosted the Thunderbirds on Thursday, December 2.

The T-Birds used a double-digit first half lead to coast to victory in the second half.
After the opening 20 minutes of game time, Southern Utah owned a 44-31 advantage at halftime.
Both teams scored 45 points in the second half and the Thunderbirds held on for a 13-point victory.
Southern Utah shot 54.8 percent overall and 32.0 percent from three-point range.

Three SUU players scored in double-digits. Dre Marin led the T-Birds with 28 points, three rebounds, four assists, and a steal.
Southern Utah limited Eastern Washington to 44.2 percent shooting, including 35.5 percent from downtown.
With the win, the Thunderbirds improved their record to 4-3 this season.

Southern Utah’s next game is against the Idaho Vandals on Saturday, December 4 at 3 p.m. (MDT). The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
