After serving as a backup quarterback through the first 12 weeks of the season, Hill started the game at QB for the Saints.
During the first half, Hill hit his throwing hand on the arm of a Cowboys defensive lineman. The former BYU star went to the sideline and into the Saints’ medical tent. One of the fingers on Hill’s throwing hand had a splint taped onto the back of the hand before the quarterback went back to the field on the next drive.
Early in the second quarter, Hill threw his first touchdown pass of the season.

The score helped the Saints trail by six points at halftime, 13-7.
During the third quarter, Saints head coach Sean Payton utilized Hill in the run game and it proved effective against the Cowboys.
Like his leaping touchdown as a BYU player against the Texas Longhorns, Hill had an impressive hurdle on a run in the second half.
