SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake’s All-Star Damir Kreilach has been left out of the MLS Best XI despite a regular season that saw career-high numbers in goals and assists.
No one was better.

Kreilach, 32, scored 16 goals and added 9 assists for Real Salt Lake. He was the only player on Real Salt Lake to be invited to the MLS All-Star game against Liga MX All-Stars and played a pivotal role, as per usual, in guiding Real Salt Lake to the Western Conference Final.
His impact has been unmatched. His leadership is world-class, and his ability to step up when his club needs him is nothing short of remarkable.
Kreilach was worthy of a 2021 MLS Best XI selection. He was more deserving than New England Revolution winger Tajon Buchanan who concluded the 2021 regular season with 8 goals and five assists.
The MLS Best XI team was filled with players from just five clubs. Four players from New England, three from Seattle, two from Nashville, Atlanta, and NYCFC were all represented.
