SALT LAKE CITY – Utah true freshman quarterback Peter Costelli has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon.
247Sports reported the news first and KSL Sports confirmed the report on Tuesday.
Costelli spent nearly one year in Salt Lake City before deciding to leave the program. He enrolled early in January to participate in spring football rather than play his senior season in high school.
Utah freshman QB Peter Costelli is indeed in the NCAA Transfer Portal, a source with access to the database confirmed to me. Former four-star & Elite 11 prospect has not seeing any plying time for the Utes this season. #GoUtes #UBoyz @kslsports

Costelli was a four-star recruit coming out of Mission Viejo High School. He was ranked the No. 10 dual threat quarterback in the nation. The quarterback position is very deep at Utah at the moment even after Charlie Brewer departed back in September. Cam Rising has established himself as the quarterback of the future and is just a sophomore this season.
Ja’Quinden Jackson is the backup and is a redshirt freshman coming from Texas. The coaches were wanting to redshirt Costelli, which is why he was the fourth string quarterback behind Rising, Jackson and Bryson Barnes.
Also, Utah has two talented quarterbacks that have verbally committed, including four-star prospect Nate Johnson and three-star standout Brandon Rose.
