Southern Utah Falls To Cal In Double Overtime Battle

SALT LAKE CITY – The Southern Utah’s men’s basketball team fell on the road in a double overtime loss to the California Bears.
The Bears hosted the Thunderbirds at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, California on Thursday, November 18.
SUU lost to Cal after two overtime periods, 75-68.

The Thunderbirds and Bears battled throughout the contest.
After the first 20 minutes of action, the T-Birds took a 33-29 lead into the locker room at the halftime break.
The Bears bounced back in the second half and outscored the Thunderbirds by four points to force overtime.
During the first overtime, Maizen Fausett hit a three-pointer to put SUU in front with 25 seconds left. Cal’s Grant Anticevich drained a game-tying jumper on the next possession to send the contest into another overtime.

The Thunderbirds ran out of gas in the second overtime and were outscored by the Bears 12-5 to close out the game.
Southern Utah finished shooting 36.2 percent overall and 18.5 percent from beyond the arc. John Knight III led the Thunderbirds with 31 points on 12-24 field goals.

With the loss, the T-Birds fell to a record of 1-3 this season.
Southern Utah’s next game is against the Yale Bulldogs on Tuesday, November 23 at 10 a.m. (MDT).
