SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz knocked down a season-high 19 threes while Rudy Gay broke onto the scene with 20 points in his debut as they took down the Toronto Raptors 119-103.

First Quarter

The Jazz started the game in an early hole falling behind 9-2 before finding their rhythm. Toronto was active in the passing lanes due to their length and athleticism on the defensive side of the ball.

On initial defensive possessions, the Jazz played the Raptors tough, but six first quarter offensive rebounds gave Toronto too many opportunities to see shots fall.

However, the Jazz made 6-11 from the three-point line and led the Raptors 32-27.

Second Quarter

Rudy Gay wasted no time making his presence felt in his first stint as a Jazzman. The forward came in and knocked down 3-4 from the three-point line and looked confident moving the ball within the Jazz offense.

His size allows him to get shots over smaller defenders, and if the Jazz can utilize it, he should be able to get some looks at the rim if Gobert can drag bigger defenders out of the paint.

But, the Jazz turned the ball over 10 times in the first half, and Bojan Bogdanovic shot just 1-7 from the three-point which allowed the Raptors to whether a few Jazz runs.

At the break, the Raptors led the Jazz 63-61.

Third Quarter

The Jazz had their best quarter of the game outscoring Toronto 31-17 thanks to the playmaking of Joe Ingles in the third quarter.

Ingles benefited from Gay’s ability to space the floor on the above the break three which made it easier to operate alongside Rudy Gobert in the pick and roll.

The Jazz also cleaned up their turnover issues and led 92-80 after three.

Fourth Quarter

Gay continued to make his debut a memorable one as he finished the game with 20 points on 7-8 shooting including 5-6 from the three-point line.

He also added five rebounds in just 18 minutes as fans got a better look at how well this team can play when they are jelling.

The Jazz knocked down a season-high 19-46 threes, and have shot better than 40 percent in consecutive games for the first time this season and knocked off Toronto 119-103.
