PROVO, Utah – BYU football defensive back Jacques Wilson has entered the NCAA’s Transfer Portal.

A 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback from West Los Angeles College, Wilson appeared in two games during his BYU football career. He arrived at BYU from West Los Angeles College in 2020 and was expected to make an immediate contribution to the Cougar secondary.

Unfortunately for Wilson, he suffered an ACL injury during fall camp and his BYU career never took off as expected. BYU cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford spoke highlight of Wilson during an interview with KSL Sports in the summer of 2020 as a potential impact player.

When Wilson arrived last year, he had two years to play two in his college eligibility. But with last season being a free year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wilson could play at another university in the 2022 season.

Wilson’s first game that he dressed for was against rival Utah. The two games he made appearances in were South Florida and Utah State, both BYU victories. In the win at Utah State, Wilson left the field after suffering what appeared to be another injury as he entered the medical tent during that game.

When plays enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, they do have the option to return to the original university if that school extends the opportunity.
