SALT LAKE CITY – Utah forward Andrea Torres quickly reacted to a shoe being on the floor during live action against Saint Mary’s on Tuesday night.
Late in the third quarter against the Gaels, Torres was in the paint on defense when a shoe appeared on the floor. She quickly kicked the shoe with her left foot and launched it to the baseline.
The shoe appears to have hit a cheerleader and forced the official on the baseline to lean back in order to dodge the flying shoe.
Utah head coach Lynne Roberts sent out a tweet on Wednesday morning, likely after film session, describing the play.
“So about last night… (no cheerleader was harmed in the making of this video) #WhoThrowsAShoe,” Roberts tweeted.

We can’t confirm at this point who the shoe belonged to.
Utah women’s basketball is off to a 3-0 start with wins over Lipscomb (105-56), Xavier (106-71) and Saint Mary’s (92-50).
They will face Cincinnati in the final game of their homestand on Friday, November 19 at 7 p.m. MT on UtahUtes.com.
