SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz will be without Rudy Gay tonight when they face the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers.

The forward was cleared for full practice with the Jazz on Monday, one day after practicing with the G League affiliate Salt Lake City Stars. However, Gay was ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the 76ers after going through shoot-around.

Gay has yet to play for the Jazz over their first 13 games of the season after undergoing offseason surgery to remove bone spurs in his right heel.

The forward was the highest-paid addition to the Jazz roster in the offseason signing a three-year deal worth roughly $18 million.

Gay has career averages of 16.8 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 35 percent from the three-point line.

The 76ers will be missing several key bodies of their own when they suit up to face the Jazz.

All-Star guard Ben Simmons has yet to suit up for the team this season after an offseason dispute between the guard and the franchise. Simmons has asked to be traded, but the 76ers front office has yet to find a trade partner willing to match their steep asking price.

Meanwhile, superstar center Joel Embiid is in the NBA’s COVID-19 contract tracing protocol, as is wing Matisse Thybulle.

Guard Danny Green will also miss the game as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Both teams are anxious to get back to full health after struggling in recent days. The Jazz have lost four out of five games after starting the season 7-1, while the 76ers have dropped four straight after an 8-2 start to the year.

The Jazz and 76ers will tip-off at 8 pm MT and can be heard on 97.5 and 1280 The Zone Sports Network. The radio broadcast can be streamed through kslsports.com and will be televised on TNT.
