Bears DB Jaylon Johnson Starts Non-Profit In Honor Of Friend Who Died

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Utes and current Chicago Bears defensive back Jaylon Johnson started a non-profit organization following the death of a friend.
Johnson recently launched the Kevvys Vision Project in honor of his friend, Kev’Vion Schrubb, who was shot and killed in August.
“Everything he did, from his friends to his family to his community, he just wanted to give back,” Johnson told ABC30 in Fresno, California.
Schrubb started a clothing brand in 2018 and would donate items to those in need.
The former Utah standout wanted to continue his friend’s charitable efforts, which led to Johnson launching the Kevvys Vision Project.
Johnson recently announced the non-profit via social media.

“I am proud to announce the launch of the Kevvy’s Vision Project. Me and My team have started a nonprofit in memory of my best friend who was killed in a shooting on August 8th in defense of his friend. Kevvy’s vision project strives to empower and motivate underprivileged communities while giving them equal opportunities to succeed. Kev had a big heart and desire to help others especially the ones in need. So stay tuned for our events in the future to help live out Kevvy’s purpose to help and serve those around him!” – Jaylon Johnson
“He had a lot of things going that he wanted to make happen and I just want to be able to continue that on in his honor. Really one of the biggest things is giving stuff back to the community whether it’s clothes or being able to help the less fortunate out or the homeless anything like that because that’s something he took pride in doing especially in his community,” Johnson told ABC30.

The project plans to help 100 families for the upcoming Christmas holiday.
“We’re going to be providing food, gifts, activities and that day they will get a hot meal, a bag of groceries, they’ll come and get their presents, they’ll be able to wrap their presents. There will be an arts and crafts station, hot chocolate, cake walks so we’ll have a full thing planned,” said Ashley Highsmith-Johnson, who works with the project.
