Duchesne Captures 1A State Title With Win Over Layton Christian

SALT LAKE CITY – The Duchesne Eagles defeated the Layton Christian Eagles to win the 1A state championship in high school football.
The Eagles and Eagles played at Weber State University’s Stewart Stadium on Saturday, November 13.
Duchesne beat Layton Christian, 18-14.

After Duchesne jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first half, Layton Christian scored its first touchdown late in the second quarter to cut the scoreboard to 12-6 at halftime.
Layton Christian tied the game in the second half with an 83-yard touchdown by Jessaia Moala in the third quarter.
Duchesne added another touchdown in the fourth quarter to take the lead and the four-point victory.
Parker Crum led Duchesne with two passing touchdowns in the contest.
Draker Goodliffe and Westin Gines were on the receiving end of Crum’s touchdown tosses.
Layton Christian quarterback Ilai Jared Tagidugu threw a touchdown pass to Zoram Petelo in the Eagles’ loss.
Duchesne finished the season with an 11-1 record.
