SALT LAKE CITY – Tony Finau is on the cutline at the Houston Open with six holes remaining in his second round.
The play was suspended prior to the first round on Thursday due to inclement weather and has backed the entire tournament up. Finau began Friday completing his opening round score of one-under-par, 69.
His second round began in the afternoon of Friday, and he did not get off to a good start. Teeing off on the 10th tee, Finau managed to follow up a bogey on the par 4 13th with an ugly double-bogey on the par 4 14th following a missed fairway and green in regulation.
At the turn, Finau found himself at two-over-par and matters only got worse following another bogey on the first to position him at three-over-par and trending in the wrong direction.
However, in true Finau fashion, he responded with a pair of birdies as the sunlight diminished to bring his score back to one-over-par.
Tomorrow morning he will complete the final six holes of his second round in an effort to qualify for the weekend. He is currently on the cut line, meaning, he must finish the six remaining holes at even-par or better if he has any hope of making the cut.

Finau entered the Houston Open following a T45 finish at the Mayakoba Classic last week in Mexico. This is the first time this season that Finau has competed in back-to-back tournaments.
