College Football Playoff Rankings: BYU Moves Up, Utah Checks In

SALT LAKE CITY – The week 11 College Football Playoff rankings were released, and two local teams are in the mix.
BYU football was in at No. 15 last week; they moved up one spot to No. 14 after crushing FCS opponent Idaho State 59-14. The Cougars are 8-2 overall and have an outside shot at playing for a New Year’s Six bowl as an at-large. However, they have to be in the Top 12 to be in the at-large pool for consideration.

Utah appeared in the Top 25 rankings after a pair of dominant victories over UCLA and Stanford in consecutive weeks. As a result, the Utes checked in at No. 24, just ahead of SEC Arkansas. Utah is in action this week on the road against the lowly Arizona Wildcats, who are coming off their first win since 2019 after taking down Cal.

The rest of the College Football Playoff rankings didn’t have much shakeup other than Michigan State. After the Spartans lost last week, they dropped to No. 7 in the rankings. The drop allowed Oregon from the Pac-12 to move up to No. 3 and Ohio State, the team Oregon defeated earlier in the year, to the No. 4 spot.
