Deven Thompkins Makes Impressive TD Catch To Keep Utah State Close

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah State wide receiver Deven Thompkins made an impressive touchdown grab in the second quarter to keep the Aggies close.
The Aggies were on the road to face the New Mexico State Aggies in Las Cruces on Saturday afternoon.
Logan Bonner threw a nice pass down the field, allowing Deven Thompkins to make a nice catch for a touchdown. That cut the NMSU lead to 10-7 with 10:06 left in the second quarter. The Las Cruces Aggies made a field goal with four minutes left until halftime to extend their lead to 13-7. That was the score at the halftime break.

Through the first half, Bonner completed eight of his 13 pass attempts for 73 yards, one touchdown and an interception. The NMSU defense gave USU fits defensively, allowing Utah State to just 33 rushing yards on 11 carries.
At the break, Thomkins had four catches for 52 yards and one touchdown. He was targeted six times. Entering the game, Thompkins had 63 receptions for 1,099 yards and six touchdowns. Through the first half, he now has 67 catches for 1, 151 yards and seven TD’s. Bonner threw his 18th touchdown of the season.
