SALT LAKE CITY – The fourth ranked Weber Warriors knocked off No. 12 Syracuse 14-7 to advance to the 6A semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Logan Payne and Jett Hill scored one touchdown each, both coming in the first half for Weber. Syracuse’s only TD came late in the first quarter.
Both teams didn’t score on their first possessions but Cannon DeVries got a big chunk play that set the Warriors up inside the 10-yard line. Shortly after, Logan Payne ran in a touchdown to give Weber a 7-0 lead with 1:28 left in the first quarter.
The Titans were able to get into the end zone as Brevin Hamblin launched up a pass and Chandler Christensen came down with it to tie the game at seven with 11 seconds to play in the opening quarter. Weber got the ball back after DeVries hauled in an easy interception. That drive ended with a touchdown by Jett Hill.
