Real Monarchs Announce End Of Season Awards Following Disappointing Season

SALT LAKE CITY – Real Monarchs season has come to an end following a regular season that involved just the 5 wins from 32 attempts. A trio of players has picked up annual club awards following their efforts throughout the season.
All awards are voted on by the players.
Malik Johnson was voted as the club’s Most Valuable Player for a season in which he led the team in appearances having seen action in 31 games. Johnson also led the team in key passes with 33 chances created. Johnson added one goal and three assists from the winger position.

New Zealand center-back Kyle Adams won Defender of the Year. Adams was a key figure for the Monarchs across the backline throughout the course of the season and played a pivotal role in limiting the number of goals conceded due to his positioning and instinct. He led the Western Conference in clearances with 140, while leading the team in blocks (42), interceptions (42), aerial duels (100, aerial duels won (58) and recorded the second-most duels won (124).
Finally, attacking playmaker Milan Illoski won the Golden Boot award for leading the club in goals having scored 5 goals in 18 appearances. He also added three assists to his tally.
