BYU Football Will Wear ‘Midnight Virgil’ Uniforms For Senior Day

PROVO, Utah – It might be hard to believe, but the BYU football home schedule has already reached Senior Day.
This week, BYU will host the Idaho State Bengals from the FCS in the final game at LaVell Edwards Stadium for the 2021 season.

When the 17th ranked Cougars take the field for Senior Day on Saturday, they’ll be wearing another new uniform combination.
BYU’s Director of Player Experience and Equipment Operations, Billy Nixon, announced that the Cougars would wear “Midnight Virgil” uniforms against Idaho State.
The Midnight Virgil combo features the traditional navy blue uniform with white pants.
Where the “Virgil” comes into play is on the helmet. BYU will wear their new navy blue helmet and it will feature a gray/nickel facemask.
During the 1960s, when former All-American Virgil Carter was playing at QB, BYU football wore helmets that featured a gray facemask.
BYU wore “The Virgil” in the 66-49 win over Virginia. That combination was on the royal blue helmet.
BYU has donned the new navy blue lid twice this season. Both appearances resulted in losses against Boise State and Baylor in consecutive weeks.

at Baylor – Navy helmet, white jersey, navy pants; Sailor Coug logo on the back of the helmet (Loss, 24-38)
